Our new Equine Dental System is for use in the diagnosis and treatment of
periodontal disease and endodontic procedures in horses. It can be easily
configured for either mobile or countertop use. It is made of rugged stainless
steel and is designed to be used in harsh environments such as horse barns.
The system comes complete and ready to use – the user needs only to
supply a tank of nitrogen which can be readily obtained from a local
industrial/medical gas supply dealer.

Pacific Equine Dental Institute Unit Parts
Fittings for the old style Air Abrasion Handpiece are no longer
available. However, we do carry a replacement kit which includes a new Air
Abrasion Handpiece, connector nut, tubing as well as all fittings needed.
Simply remove the old PEDI connector and install the new connector and your
new handpiece will fit. The upgraded handpiece will have the small tips on the
handpiece and the connector will receive them. Call our office for further
information and pricing.
We offer Equine Specific Periodontal Instruments that are based on human periodontal instruments
that have been modified for
Equine use by lengthening their handles. All are
premium quality and stainless steel.

Universal Pick and Elevator Set
Our Universal Dental Pick and Elevator set contains two universal handles,
a 15" T-handle and a 4 1/4" straight handle, to which all of the
heads can be attached. The heads include four elevator blades, a loop curette,
three types of small probe/explorers and two traditional equine picks. All
components are made of stainless steel and are individually autoclavable.
The four elevator blades can be attached to either handle, at any angle, to
incise, or elevate, necrotic fragments of molars or incisors to elevate wolf
teeth. They have a half-moon cutting surface and come in 2" and 3"
lengths and 1/4" and 3/8" diameters. The loop curette measures
7/8" high by 3/8" wide and is used to remove fragments and necrotic
tissue from an extracted tooth’s socket.
The kit includes two types of periodontal probe/explorers with holders. The
offset probe is approximately 2" long with markings at 3mm intervals. The
straight probes are 1/16" in diameter, are sharp on one end and blunt on
the other and can be bent into any desired configuration. These come in two
lengths (2" and 3" long) and there are five of each. The kit also
contains a standard flat pick head which can be attached to the T-handle at
any angle. Additionally, the kit also includes a separate mouth mirror and
comes complete with a carrying pouch (not pictured). Replacement parts are
available.
