Flexi-Float™ System

The new Flex-Float™ System is the ultimate in equine power dentistry. The Flexi-Float™ utilizes either rotary bur or rotating disk power reduction technology and incorporates all of the features Equine Dental Professionals need in a single unit that is compact and easy to setup and maintain.

 

 

The key features of the Flex-Float™ are:

	A long pistol-grip rotary burr type float for the molar arcade which features the patented Flexi-Float head that adjusts to reach even the most difficult teeth. It has a built-in vacuum port and light and weighs only 3 pounds.
	A long pistol-grip rotating disk type float for the molar arcade which also features the Flexi-Float adjustable head. This guard also has a built-in vacuum port and light and weighs only 3 pounds.
	A short rotary float for incisors with a built in vacuum port and light.
	Water irrigation to reduce drilling temperatures and tooth dust.
	A lightweight plastic tote with wheels that contains the Foredom power source, the vacuum, the fiber optic light source, additional burs, disks and wrenches and a ground fault interrupter. The system's power cable and vacuum and light hoses can also be stored in the tote when it is being transported. The complete system weights only 46 pounds.
	One year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Other features of the Flexi-Float™ System are:

	An interchangeable pistol grip-handle on the long guards to enable them to be used on both the lower and upper arcades.
	Quick-change burs and disks. Changes take less than five minutes and can be done in the field.
	A foot pedal to control the speed of the bur or disk (standard) or an optional (additional cost) trigger switch on the pistol-grip.
	Easily detachable power, vacuum, water and fiber optic light cables for quick setup and cleaning.
	Ease of maintenance. All parts are made of corrosion resistant materials and critical moving parts are made of hardened stainless steel. There are eight stainless steel ball bearings with Teflon seals and two grease fittings that need to be greased only once every 100 uses.
	A remote control switch to turn the unit on and off without having to reach the main power unit.

Arcade Specific Floating Equipment

As an alternative to all-in-one systems we offer individual, arcade specific, motorized floating devices. These give the practitioner the opportunity to custom design a motorized system from many different components, including equipment they already own. These units fall into one of two specific areas of use - floats for the molar arcade or floats for incisors and premolars.

All of these floats are powered by a separate Flex-Shaft Foredom or Dremel motor. The advantage of this over those that are integrated with a hand held power source is twofold. First these units are lightweight and well balanced giving the operator better control and less weight induced fatigue. Second is the elimination of the loud hand-held motor adjacent to the operator's head.

For maximum control it is recommended that a foot pedal speed-control or pistol-grip trigger switch be used to precisely regulate the speed of the bur. A clutch is not necessary. 

Long Molar Floats

Capps Rotary Disc Float

                   

The Capps Rotary Disc Float utilizes a very slim head profile allowing easy access to the rear molars. Furthermore, it is lightweight and well balanced and eliminates the heavy and loud hand-held motor. It uses replaceable carbide chip or diamond chip discs, and has a quick release guard. It also accepts threaded apple core burs. It fits the standard Dremel/Foredom round power cable and is used with a foot pedal to control the bur's speed. It comes standard with a carbide chip disk and a diamond disk is available (sold on page 15). It also comes with two apple core burrs, a grease gun, food grade grease, tools to change the disks and a carrying case.

Capps Rotary Bur Floats

                   

The Capps Rotary Bur Floats feature an articulating head that can be angled in any direction from 0 to 30 degrees and which has a guard that can be rotated 360 degrees - all without the need for tools. This enables the user to float all areas of the molar arcade with just a single device. Also available is a Capps Rotary Bur Float without this articulating head (not pictured). Both models fit the standard Dremel/Foredom round power cable and are used with a foot pedal to control the bur's speed. They come standard with a 1 3/4" solid carbide bur and a diamond bur is available.

Australian Molar Float

               

The Long Australian Molar Float measures 17 1/2" overall with a 12" extension and a 5 1/2" handpiece. It has a 2" Bur in a guarded head. It comes with a detachable pistol grip handle and can be used with or without it depending on user preference.  The integral handpiece connects to a standard round, keyed, Dremel or Foredom motor. Mini Makita Float

The Mini Makita reciprocating float is battery powered and has a variable speed trigger. The float is excellent for removing caudal hooks and for finishing upper and lower rear molars. The unit comes with two 15" long float extensions – a straight shaft and one with a slight obtuse angle. Both have a Medium cutting pattern, solid tungsten carbide blade that can be resharpened or replaced. Additional blades and grit patterns are available.

The kit comes with one battery and a charger. Additional batteries are available.

Electric Power Units, Accessories and Maintenance Products

We offer three Flex-Shaft Motors for use with any of our motorized floats. Foredom's™ TX-SXR 1/3hp High Torque Unit (pictured here) is a heavy-duty, high power unit. Because it delivers more torque with complete control throughout the entire speed range than any other flexible shaft power tool, it gives greater control of the bur under any load. Foredom's S-FCT 1/8hp Flex-Shaft Motor is more compact and lighter in weight. A third option is our Imported 1/3hp Flex-Shaft Motor. It is both powerful, compact and lightweight. All three units have a round power cable that is keyed at the end and is compatible with the discontinued Dremel® products and accessories. They also come complete with a variable speed foot control that provides the operator an infinite number of grinding speeds between 0 and 20,000 RPM (15,000 RPM on the TX models). With this speed control a clutch is not necessary. The motors listed here are 120 volt; 230 volt units can be special ordered.

We offer several Foredom Handpieces including two that are suitable for endodontic procedures. These are pictured below. The straight handpeice (#56A) is on the right, the longer flex shaft model (#56D) is on the left.

Mitz Pneumatic Systems

Harlton's is the exclusive distributor for
this line of air-powered dentistry equipment. 

The Mitz Pneumatic Power Dentistry Systems were developed 12 years ago and have proven to be a viable alternative to electric power. They use compressed air which provides quiet, gentle, high-speed power for both traditional reciprocating floats, disk floats and rotary bur floats.

Reciprocating System - 

Basic System Components:

Pneumatic Reciprocating Handpiece – The pneumatic reciprocating hand unit features a 1/4" stroke operating at 2,000 strokes per minute. This short stroke, combined with a high frequency, safely and quickly reduces overlong teeth. The handpiece comes complete with 7 feet of air hose with standard fittings that can either be attached directly to the air compressor or to an extension air hose. The handpiece features a quick change mandrel that facilitates easy switching of the float shafts. The unit weighs only two pounds with a float shaft attached.

Float Shafts – Four sizes are offered, each with a different application within the mouth. Three of the shafts hold a 1-1/2" flat float blade using standard ¼" allen-head screws. The forth one – for caudle hooks – features a built-in blade similar to our mini and low profile floats. The four shafts are:

Straight 16" – for caudle hooks (with low profile blade)
Straight 15" – for rear molars
Straight 13" – for front molars, premolars and incisors
Obtuse 11" – for bit seats and rostal hooks

Float Blades – The three screw-in flat float blades are 1-1/2" long with a solid carbide insert pinned to its aluminum backing plate. The blades are specially ground for power use and can be resharpened. The integral caudle hook blade can also be removed and replaced and/or resharpened.  Replacement blades are listed with our other float blades.

Pneumatic Disk Float -

Also available is a pneumatic float with a rotating disk head with a carbide chip blade (a diamond disk is optional). The head of this unit has a profile that is slender enough to allow the user access to the entire molar arcade while still offering excellent visibility. It is ideal for quickly leveling waves and reducing overlong teeth. In addition, it is lightweight to allow for better control and to reduce operator fatigue.

Pneumatic Rotary Floats - 

We also offer two pneumatic rotary bur floats - a 14" Caudal Hook Grinder and a 13" Long Molar Float. Both of these units operate at user selected speeds of up to 25,000 rpm.

The Caudal Float has a very slim profile and a small round bur enabling it to reach into even the tightest of oral cavities to quickly reduce Caudal Hooks. It comes with a carbide chip bur. A diamond bur is optional.

The Long Molar Float is designed to remove a maximum amount of tooth in a minimum amount of time. It is ideal for leveling waves and reducing overlong incisors. It comes with a 1 3/4" solid carbide bur. A diamond bur is optional.
